"I’ve always been attracted by landscapes, both rural and urban, and when I started to paint more seriously in the 1980s, these became my subjects of choice.

​

For many years I worked as a commercial photographer, a calling that I like to think gave me an ‘eye’ for a good view although the subject matter in those days was usually the choice of my then clients.

​

My work is now mostly the result of exploring localities that resound and that give me the emotion and atmosphere that I’m looking for in my work. Living in south-east London there is no shortage of subject matter of all kinds, both nearby and further afield.

​

Although I occasionally work in watercolour, I find that the flexibility and depth of colour in oil paint enables me to create the results that I’m looking for.”
