Melissa Roskell

Fine artist, book illustrator, muralist, graphic designer and art teacher.

Melissa was born in Blackheath and and trained as a Graphic designer, working extensively in both publishing and the food and drink industry. She now works primarily as an artist, specialising in oil painting, watercolours, oil pastels and murals. She paints many subjects ranging from local scenes to pets, still life, food and drinks.

​

Melissa regularly works to commission (both private and school/community projects). She recently worked as a Project co-ordinator/teacher for students at Eltham Hill school for a Stephen Lawrence mural (as seen on BBC).

 

When not painting in her studio at home, Melissa has a weekend stall at Greenwich Market and also teaches adults at a drawing class every Wednesday evening at The Kidbrooke Community Hub, alongside renowned artist Lee Fether.

She has designed and illustrated many published children’s books, both in the UK and internationally, and is currently working on illustrations for two more books.

​

Melissa has created window art displays for shops in Blackheath, and has exhibited in many galleries in South East London and abroad, including her one man show, London Local’s, which premiered at The Shirker’s Rest, SE14 in May 2025.
