Sophie M. Cook
Sophie is known for her floral compositions using them as a medium to investigate the interplay of color, light, and emotion. Sophie carefully works from life, noting how seasonal changes in light influence her paintings. The muted, diffused light of winter leads to softer tones, while the brighter, warmer summer light inspires more chromatic and energetic works.

Sophie’s work reflects a commitment to both technique and expression, her systematic approach to colour mixing and careful planning on the palette allows for more freedom and gestural brushstrokes on the painting itself. Sophie carefully considers analogous or complementary schemes for each painting to create the harmonies and vibrancy she feels each project needs.
Sophie’s work has been collected widely in the UK, Europe, Asia and the US. She is also represented by Suzie Horsey, Highgate Contemporary Art and British Contemporary Art. She has shown work at the Mall Galleries, Affordable Art Fair London, Chelsea Arts Society, Bath Society of Artists and sold work at Christies Auction House. She is also a founding member of UK Floral Oil Painting Collective, ‘Floris Fine Art’.
